To Now…

By 2004, I was in a bit of a groove/rut with a case management organization, when our unit was summarily laid off.

I recall the exact day when we were notified, and about 2 hours later, I received a call from Networks’ Executive Director Mike McAllister expressing his regret about our layoff, and if I’d be interested in meeting with he and Rosa about a potential job opportunity! The timing was uncanny.

I met with Mike and Rosa shortly thereafter and within a year was hired as Training Coordinator with Networks! Looking back, this story epitomizes networking, staying in touch, and stating what you want.

My time at Networks continues to be a time of great learning, introspection, collaboration, and yes, networking. And I also can’t help but think what would have happened, had I not openly expressed my interest in one day joining the Networks’ team? Would the opportunity still have presented itself? I guess we’ll never know. But I’m sure glad I did – 17 years later!
